Returning Daisy

Drop off time is by 11AM. If you would like to be later this can be arranged but with a late drop off fee. When you drop Daisy back you will need to give her a quick spruce inside, we ask that she is returned in the same condition that we gave her to you in, and that the petrol (NOT DIESEL!) tank is returned full.

Daisy is a No Smoking vehicle, so strictly no smoking in or just outside her open door. We want to preserve her and ensure everyone can enjoy her. If she is smoked in she will have to be valeted fully at the hirers expense to keep her fresh for everyone. We truly hope you enjoy Daisy as much as we have. You will find lots of people wave and smile as you pass by!

How it works

Booking Daisy is simple, first things first contact us to confirm Daisy is free using our booking form or call/text 07843 616918. We will get back to you pronto to confirm availability and price.

The next stage in getting your camper van holiday secured is to fill in our booking form, agree to our hire agreement, and send us the holding deposit of £100.

Then get planning your Retro VW Camper trip! Check out the FAQs for useful links for trip ideas, inspiration and campsites. Also check out our inclusions to see what else you might want to take!

Remember full payment is due 6 weeks before departure.

On the first day of you rental your camper van pick up arrive time is between 12-14:00. We will then spend an hour getting to know the beautiful Daisy and getting the final paperwork in order. The security deposit of £500 is due now. Then you can head out with your tank full of petrol and the open road ahead of you!

We would always recommend you plan ahead though to ensure there is availability if you are staying in campsites, especially at busier times. Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds have some great places to take your VW Campervan to and relax in.

We have tried to include all the basics that you will need in Daisy herself. View this in the view daisy section. Check out our list below to see if you fancy any of the extras too.

Frequently Asked questions

Below we have tried to answer any questions you may have. Please get in touch if you have any more. Also we have out some useful links if you're looking for some inspiration of places to visit.

How do I go about booking Daisy?

Fill in our enquiries form and we will email you back as soon as we can! Once availability is confirmed you need to fill in a booking form, agree to the hire agreement and pay the deposit, then you are booked! See our 'How it Works' section.

How does payment work?

You pay a non-refundable booking deposit of £100.00. The full balance is then due at least 6 weeks before your departure date. Final payment date will be confirmed on booking. Payment has to be made via bank transfer, We will provide you with our details on booking.

Do I need to pay a security deposit?

Yes a £500 security deposit is payable the day before the collection of the vehicle. This can be done by card or cash on the day (with prior arrangement). Provided you bring the van back on time, clean, in the same condition as it left and with a full tank of fuel, this will be refunded within 7 days.

What documents do I need to provide?

We need to see a card driving license for each driver and an address ID that match the address on the license - i.e. utility bill, council tax statement or bank/credit card/mortgage statements dated within 3 months of the hire date.

As the paper counterpart license is no longer valid UK license holders need to also supply a DVLA license summary form which shows any points and endorsements on the license. You can download this from the DVLA website.

Can I smoke in Daisy?

No. Daisy is No Smoking, so strictly no smoking in or just outside her open door. We want to preserve her and ensure everyone can enjoy her, which means she cannot smell of smoke. If we deem her to smell of smoke on her return a professional cleaning fee will be charged, in line with our terms and conditions. Please respect Daisy.

Where do we pick Daisy up from?

Wallingford, Oxfordshire. Full address details will be on your booking confirmation.

What’s Included?

We have tried to ensure all the basics are covered that you are likely to need, so you can worry about enjoying yourself. We supply a fridge, grill and gas stove, as well as cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, etc. For a full list please see our What’s Included section. The main thing that isn't is bedding, we can provide this for an additional charge.

What about the gas for the hob and grill?

We provide you with a gas bottle for the kitchen, however as there is no indicator level to see how full it is, the gas bottle can run out within your rental. Most campsites sell gas canister, and it is your responsibility to buy and change it whilst you are renting Daisy. We will reimburse you for the cost of the gas canister.

Are there any extra’s?

See our 'What’s Included' section for a full list. We only charge for bedding, the awning, early or late collections/drop offs and extra drivers, everything else is included.

So what else should we be bringing with us?

Torches are a must - we actually recommend a smallish camping lantern or two, they're really cheap and work quite nicely to cosily illuminate a space like this. And bedding!

Can we have more than one person listed as a driver?

Sure! Up to three drivers can be listed, although because the cost of insurance goes up, you'll have to pay a little extra for the additional drivers - £10.00 per person, per day.

Are VW Campervans reliable?

Daisy is a Water-cooled T2, which means she is super-reliable and has had a complete overhaul of the mechanical and electrical systems complete with a fresh cost of paint. We fully service Daisy regularly throughout the year, and give her a thorough going over every time they're returned to us. 'Classic' doesn't mean 'falling apart'! And these T2s were built to last, it's part of their charm.

Can I leave my car with you?

That'd be absolutely fine – we have space for one car parked on our drive, all vehicles left at their own risk.

How old do I have to be to hire Daisy from you?

We're sorry to say that you have to be 25 and less than 75 and have held a full driving licence for two years to drive our campers. It's not us - it's a requirement of the insurance.

I've got a few points on my licence. Is that going to be a problem?

That depends on the nature of the endorsement. Give us a call and we can talk about it.

Can we take Daisy overseas?

Oh, we'd love to say yes but sadly, it's a no for our Daisy.

What about insurance?

Comprehensive motor insurance is included in the basic price, for your and our peace of mind. If you are unfortunate enough to be in an accident, you'll have to pay the policy excess which is £500, taken from your deposit.

Is my personal property included in that insurance cover?

Afraid not. If we did that the cost would go through the roof and right now we're nice and affordable! Fortunately, it's a lot cheaper for you to arrange your own travel insurance - in fact we recommend that you do for peace of mind. Just be sure to check the small print for the amount they'll pay out, just in case! Not all cheap insurance is a bargain...

Are dogs welcome?

Yes! Just make sure they are well behaved and they don't eat the seats!! You are liable for any damage caused.

What do we need to do when we drop her off?

When you drop Daisy back you will need to give her a quick spruce inside, we ask that she is returned in the same condition that we gave her to you in, and a full tank of petrol. You do not need to clean the outside. When you drop her off please mention any issues or damage that you have experienced in your rental.

What works on the leisure battery?

The leisure battery is charged up when you're on the move and will last for about 10 hours. It works the fridge, electric tap and interior lights. This means the vehicles main battery is never used for these bits and pieces. We recommend that you plug into a campsite's electrical hook-up to keep it charged overnight. The electric sockets and the heater only work off the mains hook up.

Bear in mind many campsites are not on these websites! Have a google and make some calls. Some have live availability on their own websites but many don’t. Campervanning is all about getting back to basics – that sometimes also applies when finding the perfect campsite too!
